Why EQ?

Aug 05, 2021: Astrid has shared her life experience in an interview and also shared tricks and knowledge for guiding other women in their journey of being effective business owners. She was named Business Partner of the Year in 2009 in WA and Australian Business Partner of the Year Finalist in 2010, and in 2021 Winner of Woman in Building , onsite category in the Master Business Australia Award.


According to the sources, Astrid revealed in her interview that she was born in Indonesia and used to work as a flight attendant. She managed several companies in Indonesia and got university degree in strategy and economics. Later she came to Australia in the year 1998 and started helping her husband in his building construction business. He was a building supervisor in a well-known company.
In 2001, they started their own business related with construction sector and created a constructions company in the City of Canning area. Initially, they started with building one or two houses and later expanded the business with contractual work and speculative home building. Later, Astrid decided to learn the Diploma of Building and Construction for four years and got her own building license. She became a qualified Australia Registered Building Practitioner in 2004. She is one of the very few certified registered building practitioner in the nation where the construction industry is dominated by men.
Now her team has produced an assorted series of projects from contemporary style homes to customized and multi-dwelling premises, residential and commercial buildings in Western Australia.

 

In order to encourage women for becoming successful business owners, she started her organization known as EQ. She was the Chairperson of EQ -Australia-Indonesia businesswomen network, and in 2018 She act as the non-executive Director of the organizations  liable for interlocutor movement in collaboration with government, B2B and P2P.

 

About EQ
EQ’S name arises from the Equator, which passes through Indonesia. EQ formally recognizes the number of Indonesian & Australian women living in Perth, Western Australia, who are engaged and make a significant contribution to the business sectors and various organizations. Formed in 2010 the non-government organizations was originally founded as the body for Australian-Indonesian business & professional women. EQ forum was introduced and through a series of workshop and networking events, succeeded in raising the profile of women within the membership, providing business and industry education, valuable networking and opportunities for mentoring.
